Halfway between heaven and hell

I met my friend and companion on the way

She was my mother

She was my sister

He was my father

He was my brother

We were all things to each other

Yet there was no need to fulfil

Just open road

Divining shells, a dousing rod

A hymn book and love songs

To use for our magic

But the spells we spun

The blessings on the road

The love in our hearts

The GOD in everything and everyone

Made the missing quotient

Not  so necessary

Only not there

My friend held my hand

We laughed at the illusion

And appreciated the reality of each other’s hand

And we didn’t let go…

Ha! I am proud to report,

We didn’t let go!
